Portrait: Mickaël Giron, Motoblouz driver

And a new Motoblouz driver, one! Mikaël Giron (Mika for short) has just joined the list of enthusiasts we support. The Charentais is competing this year in the world endurance EWC, as well as in EuropeanBike. We get to know him in a few questions!

Who are you ?

My name is Mickaël Giron, I was born in Saintes, in 17 in Charentes, on May 24, 1986. I am a motorcyclist with the National Gendarmerie. I love sports in general and particularly those on two wheels. I train a lot in running and cycling. Call me Mika!

What are you riding on?

I rode an Aprilia RSV4 RF in 2017 and this season I will ride a Ducati 1299 Panigale from the Ducati Esprit Racing Team which competes in world endurance EWC and EuropeanBike.

What is your dream motorcycle?

The magnificent Panigale V4R!

How did you get into track/ cross /enduro?

I discovered the trail in 2009 while accompanying a friend. I returned there 2-3 times for leisure then in 2013 I decided to stop driving to ride exclusively on circuits and train. A year later, I did my first race in the Coupe de France Promosport Découverte.
Cross and enduro are a long family affair. My dad did it for 30 years, including 15 years of sand racing and the great enduro classics. I spent most of my childhood weekends following him and dreaming. Today I am in motorcycle training with the gendarmerie in Fontainebleau and I finally have the opportunity, the chance to learn how to do cross and enduro. I'm enjoying it!

A must-have accessory for you on a race weekend?

My 2-second Quechua tent? I'm kidding ; although!? My headlamp! Yes, yes, I assure you…. We do everything with a headlamp!

What does “Enjoy The Ride” mean to you?

In 2 words: PLEASURE and FREEDOM. Enjoying every moment, every situation on two wheels, on a motorbike, on a bicycle. Alone or accompanied!

What is your strongest motorcycle memory?

Taking the start of the Bol d'Or in 2017 on a Ducati Panigale. When I took on this somewhat crazy challenge, many told me “But you’re not thinking about it, it’s impossible!” ". It's to show everyone that we can all live our dreams on a motorcycle that I held on and had a ride within a fabulous team, for a legendary race full of emotions beyond measure. Proof that when we want, we often can!

Any biker advice to share?

Ride for you… treat yourself! Enjoy every moment of riding, and have fun.

A special riding partner?

My friend Will with whom we have shared our racing weekends for almost three years.

Your best trip? A place you would dream of visiting by bike?

Visit Russia, a country and a culture that I recommend. I dream of going on a road trip to the Himalayas.

What is your next two-wheel challenge?

My biggest challenge? Start and finish the Enduropale du Touquet of the 2019 edition…!
Only 1 year after discovering enduro and cross ! Otherwise it's not funny...
Once again, to those who tell me that it is impossible, I answer “see you next January..!” »

Editor and tester for Motoblouz , I am an unconditional fan of roads with bends. For me, the motorcycle is a means of escape as well as a means of transport.
